Job Description

Shift: Nights (10p-6am)

Job Description

  • Attend to resident medical and health care needs in a professional and timely manner
  • Prepare for physician visits; review charts and vitals
  • Assist physician with histories and physicals
  • Receive, record and implement physician’s orders
  • Schedule labs, retrieve results and follow-up as necessary
  • Order prescriptions and medications; refill as needed and prescribed
  • Update, correct and maintain resident medication sheets and charts
  • Communicate daily with Director of Nursing regarding resident health concerns and changes of condition
  • Manage the administration, distribution and record keeping of resident medications
  • Perform and document monthly health and hygiene checks
  • Communicate resident health issues to designated families or guardians
  • Coordinate with staff concerning medical, dental and other health-related appointments for residents
  • Ensure staff compliance with health-related regulatory requirements
  • Accompany resident to medical appointments as necessary
  • Conduct medical and health training for staff and residents
  • Administer TB, flu and other shots
  • Measure and record resident’s vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
  • Supervise nurse aides and medication aides
  • Collect samples, such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples
  • Help residents with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, moving in bed, or standing and walking

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years professional nursing experience in a long-term care setting preferred
  • Current state nursing license
