Responsibilities of UMass Global full-time faculty include teaching, mentoring and service. Research activities are supported, but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, however, higher rank may be considered if appropriate. UMass Global offers competitive salaries with generous benefits. This full-time faculty is required to teach clinical courses at the San Diego campus and affiliated clinical rotations throughout California, including the San Diego region.

Candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and received the booster when applicable. Demonstrate proof of vaccination upon hire, unless approved for a disability or religious accommodation by the UMass Global’s Human Resources Department. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable laws.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Unrestricted California (CA) RN and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license or is eligible for licensure
  • Graduate degree in Nursing (Masters of Science in Nursing degree or higher)
  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a pre- or post-licensure nursing program
  • A minimum of 2 years current nursing experience providing direct patient care in the Acute Care Setting.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Clinical teaching experience in Advanced Acute Care nursing
  • NLN Certification as Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE cl)
  • Experience with distance learning, academic technologies and application of evidence into clinical practice
  • Prior approval as a CA Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Advanced Acute Care faculty, with working knowledge of CA BRN rules and regulations

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and mentoring pl-ABSN students with course management in specialty area (Advanced Acute Care)
  • Coordinating clinical sites and student placements with on-site clinical supervision of students in pl-ABSN rotations
  • Recruiting and Mentoring pl-ABSN full-time and adjunct faculty
  • Participation in on-campus Immersive learning sessions, student teaching and faculty meetings
  • Maintaining clinical practice (10% of workload)
  • Community outreach and recruitment of potential students
