Job Description:

**Position:** Cardiothoracic Surgeon

**Facility Type:** Not-for-profit, community hospital

**Estimated Monthly Practice Volume:**
- CABG: 20
- Valve Replacement/Repair: 4
- TAVR: 12
- Thoracic Aneurysm or Dissection Repair: 3
- Other Thoracic: 10

*Note: The addition of a part-time Cardiac Surgeon and a full-time Cardiothoracic Surgeon has led to increased volumes.*

**Current Staffing:**
- Surgeons: 2
- Physician Assistants: 1
- Nurse Practitioners: None
- RNFA / Surgical Assistants: Adequate staffing
- Perfusionists: Adequate staffing

**Staffing Needed:**
- Surgeons: None
- Physician Assistants: 1 (Start Date: December 31st)
- Nurse Practitioners: None
- RNFA / Surgical Assistants: None
- Perfusionists: None

**Position Details:**
- Expected Start Date: ASAP (pending licensure and privileges)
- Expected Length of Term: Up to 6 months
- Scope of Position: Full scope
- Prescription Privileges: Yes (DEA required)
- Expected Time Needed for Credentialing: 30-45 days

**Candidate Requirements:**
- Board Certification: Yes
- Experience: Yes (1-10 years)
- Would You Consider…
- A Qualified New Graduate? Possible, with vein harvesting experience
- Experienced Provider Trained in Another Surgical Field? Potential

**Required Skill Sets:**
- Admission H&P: Required
- Consultations: Willing to train (mainly MD to handle)
- First Assistant in Surgery: Required
- EVH Harvesting: Required
- Open Radial Artery Harvest: Preferred, willing to train
- Endoscopic Radial Artery: Preferred, willing to train
- ICU Management: Required
- Stepdown Management: Required
- ICU Procedures: Willing to train
- Office Visits: Required
- Database Entry (i.e. STS): Required
- Pediatric Experience: None

**Schedule:**
- Facility’s Work Week Scheduling Cycle: Thursday-Thursday
- Anticipated Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30 am-4:30 pm. On-call as scheduled.
- Anticipated Weekend Schedule: On-call as scheduled.
- Anticipated Overtime: Show up when scheduled, and when care is done, Provider can go home.

**On Call:**
- On Call Required: Yes
- Surgical On Call: All feeds into singular call schedule
- ICU/Floor/Clinic On Call: All feeds into singular call schedule
- On Call 1 in X Weeknights: Will grow to 1:3
- On Call 1 in X Weekends: Will grow to 1:3
