Job Description

  • Start Date
    • Sept - mid January 2020
  • Schedule
    • 4 days/wk( 5th day ad min/outreach day)
    • Call: 1:4/ month
    • Weekends and holidays are equally shared
  • Clinical Details
    • PAs will see patients individually with Physician supervision.
      Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
    • Review patient records, interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
    • Perform a complete physical exam and records findings establishing a presumptive diagnosis.
    • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
    • Orders appropriate medications (including but limited to: chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, IV medication, IM/SQ medication, supportive care medication) based on the patients' treatment/therapy plan as prescribed by the Physician.
    • Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
    • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention; instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
    • Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
    • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
    • Provides call coverage with Physician.
  • Requirements
    • Active NE state license
    • Must have recent and relevant oncology experience
    • Must be able to offer 2 wk/month of coverage
    • Strong desire to build collaborative working relationship with colleagues
  • Call
    • Call required, 1:4/month
  • Support Staff
    • APRN, 3 other physicians( each has their own nurse)
    • Onsite radiation, oncology, pharmacy, nurse navigator and survivorship programs
    • Multi-disciplinary tumor board
  • EMR
    • EPIC with Beacon in clinic and hospital
  • Additional Info
    • Newly remodeled clinic/infusion center located within the hospital
    • Commission on cancer accreditation through ACoS and QOPI certified through ASCO
    • Involved with clinical trails/research studies with various entities- Univ of NE Med Ctr, Cancer Alliance of NE and pharmaceutical companies.
