Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Needed in Massachusetts
Target Start Date: April 13, 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks (locum tenens) ongoing
Schedule
Monday–Friday (within 3–4 week assignment blocks)
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM clinic days (8-hour shifts)
3–4 days per week; schedule is flexible
Call required:
Evening call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Weekend call: Saturday morning – Monday morning
Call consists primarily of phone triage with occasional in-person consults
Practice Details
Setting: Orthopedic service within a small rural hospital and outpatient clinic
Patient volume: ~10–12 patients per day
Patient population: Adults
Hospital bed size: 19
EMR: Epic
Clinical Scope
Combination of clinic and surgical first assist
Typical weekly structure:
~2 days in clinic
~1 day in OR (only if surgeries are scheduled)
If no surgeries occur, provider remains in clinic
Common conditions include:
Ankle injuries
Achilles tendon issues
Elbow and knee injuries
Rotator cuff and shoulder conditions
Carpal tunnel
No total joint replacements
OR responsibilities include first assist for day surgeries
Requirements
Board Certification: Orthopedics (NP-C)
License: Active Massachusetts license required (not willing to license)
Certifications: BLS
DEA: Not specified
Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of orthopedic experience
EMR Experience: Epic required
Credentialing Timeframe: ~90 days
Travel
Travel support available (flight, hotel, rental car)
Preference for providers who do not require flights
Location
Nantucket, Massachusetts – small rural orthopedic practice environment; local or travel candidates welcome
