OR Nurse Manager - Surgical Services

POSITION SUMMARY: Is responsible and accountable for promoting and maintaining quality patient care and the effective management and utilization of resources (staff and supplies) on the above listed patient care unit/area. Supervises professional and ancillary staff. Supervision of staff may include: CC, RN, LPN, NT, US, PCT, HH and others.

QUALIFICATIONS: Current West Virginia licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (R.N.). Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A minimum of three to four years of current OR nursing experience that has included various patient populations; previous experience as charge nurse; nurse manager or supervisor. Documented leadership abilities and skills related to: decision making, judgment, problem solving, effective interpersonal relations and effective communications, both written and verbal. Advanced education and certification in designated area of service as noted by floor or dept. assigned.

Surgical Services

This unit offers eight phases of the OR experience: scheduling, pre-op interview, out-patient surgery RN team (OR holding nurse, OR circulating nurse, surgical techs, central processing team, CRNA and anesthesiologist), Stage 1 Post anesthesia Care, Stage I and II Recovery, discharge Call, and customer survey. Currently we have four OR suites/procedure rooms including a state-of-the-art orthopedic room to better accommodate our total joint replacement patients. We offer the only anterior hip replacement surgery in the Eastern Panhandle. Our services include general surgery, orthopedics including joint replacements (knee, hip, shoulder), eye surgery, urology, gastroenterology, OB/GYN and minor surgical procedures. The annual OR case volume average is 3500-4000. Our nurse to patient ratio in the OR is 1:1, PACU 1:2, Stage 11 1:3. We utilize high tech, high quality equipment such: 4K high definition endoscopy towers, Hanna table for orthopedic cases, Arthex hip positioners for scopes, Novadiq pinpoint fluoroscopy imaging techniques for laparoscopy cases. Our products are top notch from Stryker, Zimmer, conformist, smith and Nephew. Our equipment has the capability to interact with the EMR.
