Aspen University is looking for experienced Full Time Nursing Faculty - BSN PL to join our team in Phoenix, AZ!

Position Description:

The Full-time Clinical Faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-licensure program shall report to the Program Director at the respective campus. Clinical Faculty will teach in the clinical setting and in location-based lab and simulation courses. Clinical Faculty are expected to lay the foundation for nursing expectations and the skills necessary to be successful BSN graduates. They are committed to engaging students, assessing student learning and skills, and supporting the achievement of student academic goals. Clinical Faculty are expected to help secure the minimum NCLEX first-time pass rates of the location’s state.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with assigned nursing staff to facilitate student learning for students in the clinical, simulation, or skills lab settings related to learning goals. These goals include practice knowledge, critical thinking, professional communication, resource management, personal and professional development, and ethical standards.
  • Works closely with Clinical Practice Manager and Director of Clinical Simulation to assure compliance with course clinical requirements in the respective location or within the applicable clinical affiliate. Establishes clinical rotation plans with students according to rotation start date.
  • Responsible for curriculum delivery and quality pedagogy. Clearly communicates learning expectations to students. Assesses, evaluates, and documents student learning activities and performance. Assesses student outcomes with quantitative and qualitative measures to ensure students are safe in clinical settings.
  • Assists in the achievement of the minimum NCLEX first-time pass rates of the location’s state.
  • Builds community and engagement with students in the clinical/simulation environment.
  • Facilitates appropriate boot camps for review paperwork, course guidelines (scheduling, points of contact for courses, verifying placements and guidelines for clinical activities), and facilitates skills practice, pharmacology, and pathophysiology review.
  • Provides timely and constructive feedback to students regarding assignments and clinical/simulation performance. Completes Clinical Evaluation Tool (CET) and/or Creighton Simulation Evaluation Tool, and all applicable site evaluations, and facilitates upload to Project Concert.
  • Participates in advisement and guidance of students. Refers students who do not meet expectations to campus resources for additional support.
  • Adheres to relevant policies and procedures of the academic institution.
  • Actively participates in University and School faculty and governance meetings.
  • Makes course revisions and completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in nursing; doctorate preferred.
  • Current registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in the applicable state.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Two years of experience teaching in a BSN Pre-licensure program preferred.
  • Ability to accept course assignments to teach the maximum student load every 8 weeks, based on experience and expertise.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with persons of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of professional integrity.

Work Environment:

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve working in a combination of office and classroom environments. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
