Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Surgical ICU is a high acuity, critical care area. Our surgical population includes: liver transplantation, vascular surgery, otolaryngology, surgical oncology, urology, and acute care/emergency surgery

As an employee of UT Southwestern’s Surgical Services teams, you will experience unique procedures, stability of volumes, supportive leadership, great benefits and varied committee opportunities.

$10,000 Bonus to be paid out at 6 & 12 months (half each payment).

Call is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year or greater Critical Care or ICU RN experience
  • Current Texas RN license or Compact State license with multistate privilege
  • (BLS) & (ACLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC),
  • Excellent customer service skills, problem solving and sound judgement
  • NIHSS Certification required. BSN preferred,

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Able to serve as a professional and technical subject matter person in surgical intensive cares.

Ability to maintain current customer service, nursing, and technical skills by attending training programs and seminars to continue level of competency and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Work requires constant walking, standing, bending, turning, and stooping. Pushing and pulling heavy objects such as patient beds. Must be able to help lift and turn patients.

This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215.
