Job Description
Hilo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU) in Hilo, Hawaii. This is a 13-week contract assignment working varied shifts with 36 scheduled hours per week after orientation.
Unit Details:
- 15-bed unit
- 3 Step-Down ICU beds
- 12 Telemetry beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- Progressive Care: 1:4
- Step-Down ICU: 1:3
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in a progressive care setting
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Fingerstick blood sugar monitoring
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Float to other acute care units as needed
Equipment and Systems:
- EPIC EMR
- Pyxis medication system
- BIPAP
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
- Active Hawaii RN License required by assignment start date
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- PALS preferred
- NIHSS preferred
Additional Information:
- Travelers may float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER units
- No call required
- Holiday coverage required
- Scrubs required
- Candidates must arrive prior to start date for employee health appointment and onboarding
Contract Details:
- 13-week travel assignment

- 36 hours per week after orientation
- No guaranteed hours
