Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care team. The ideal candidate must have recent Open Heart Recovery experience and be capable of caring for immediate post-operative open-heart patients from day one. This role involves providing comprehensive critical care nursing services to patients with complex cardiovascular and surgical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
• Manage immediate post-operative open-heart surgery patients.
• Monitor and care for hemodynamically stable and unstable cardiac patients.
• Perform advanced patient assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
• Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment and critical care devices.
• Manage patients with:
  • Arterial lines (A-lines)
  • Central venous lines
  • Chest tubes
  • Multiple IV infusions and pumps
  • Ventilator support
  • Nasogastric tubes
  • Continuous bladder irrigation
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms.
• Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Assist with patient education, discharge planning, and care coordination.
• Serve as a clinical resource and assist in precepting and mentoring staff.

• Revascularization Procedures
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Thoracotomy
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• COPD
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Renal Failure
• Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
• Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
• Sepsis
• General Medical and Surgical Patients

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current Active RN License.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/CVICU experience.
• Recent Open Heart Recovery experience required.
• Strong knowledge of advanced nursing principles and critical care practices.
• Experience with advanced monitoring and critical care equipment.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
