CVOR Surgical Technologist

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist to provide advanced technical support within a high-acuity cardiovascular operating room environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside cardiovascular surgeons, nurses, anesthesia professionals, and other members of a specialized surgical team. The ideal candidate will have strong CVOR experience, excellent knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team during complex cardiovascular procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the CVOR, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiovascular procedures

• Scrub for complex cardiovascular and open-heart surgical cases

• Assist cardiovascular surgeons and the surgical team throughout procedures

• Maintain a sterile field and follow infection prevention and patient safety protocols

• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide appropriate instruments and supplies

• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping

• Perform surgical counts and maintain accurate documentation

• Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment

• Handle surgical specimens according to established procedures

• Assist with operating room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases

• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia personnel, perfusionists, and other members of the CVOR team

• Maintain efficient workflow while keeping patient safety and quality of care as top priorities

• Provide guidance and support to less-experienced surgical technologists when appropriate

• Follow departmental policies, procedures, and established cardiovascular surgical protocols

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

• Previous Surgical Technologist experience

• Strong CVOR/open-heart experience

• Experience with complex cardiovascular procedures

• Current BLS certification

• Surgical Technologist certification preferred

• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique

• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and work effectively in a high-acuity OR

• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

• Ability to function independently while working collaboratively with the surgical team
