Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and supervising nursing operations during assigned shifts to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care. This role provides leadership, clinical oversight, staff supervision, and coordination of resident care services within a long-term care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and ensure quality resident care throughout the shift.
- Coordinate staffing needs, including managing call-offs and scheduling adjustments.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support resident care plans.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate resident conditions and communicate changes appropriately.
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation and care plan updates.
- Assist with orientation and training of new nursing personnel.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and staff.
- Address resident and family concerns and facilitate resolutions.
- Prepare shift reports and ensure effective handoff communication.
- Provide direct patient care as needed.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to emergencies and serve as the manager-on-duty during evening and night shifts.
- Report significant incidents, concerns, and regulatory matters to leadership promptly.
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Previous supervisory experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting preferred.
- Experience with MatrixCare EMR required.
- Strong leadership, communication, delegation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with geriatric residents.
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions in fast-paced environments.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and assist with resident transfers when necessary.
Additional Requirements
- Active state RN license required.
- Holiday coverage may be required.
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Long Term Care (LTC) settings preferred.
