Job Description

Seeking experienced Nurse to step into the Director of Surgical Services position

Hiring during COVID-19.

Under the administrative direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this role ensures compliance with regulatory agencies impacting patient care in an acute healthcare facility; develops, implements and monitors goals and objectives of assigned divisions to most effectively integrate its technical and human resources to support the organization’s mission. Plans, manages, evaluates, and facilitates delivery of peri-operative patient care. Areas of responsibility include: main surgery, CV surgery, SPD, surgery scheduling, pre-admission testing, diagnostic surgical services, and post anesthesia care.

  • RN required position with a Bachelors or Masters degree
  • Shift is primarily days but may require some nights/weekends/holidays, etc as needed

Registration/Certification/Licensure:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse; CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) within three (3) months of hire

Experience:

  • Five to seven years progressively more responsible experience in healthcare, with progressive management experience which includes developing, implementing and maintaining patient care policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of surgical services strongly preferred

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related healthcare field. Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsible for business and administrative activities such as:

  • Management responsibility for patient care operations, facility planning and operations development;
  • Development of operating and capital budgets, and monitoring revenues/expenses and capital budget for scope of operations;
  • Implementation of business plan and quarterly progress reports; assists in Lutheran’s business planning process;
  • Works with physician groups on evaluation of new technology, expansion of service lines, review of outcomes data for performance improvement;
  • Identification of regional outreach opportunities providing community education programs;
  • Assists in recruitment of specialty physicians to the region supporting staff;
  • Develops yearly customer service and quality goals;
  • Collaborates with Community Relations/Marketing on the design and implementation of annual communication plan
