Job Description
Overview
Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Charge Registered Nurse will be responsible for the supervision of nursing and medical staff and daily coordination of health care services in compliance with nursing standards, state and federal regulations and laws.
Qualifications
Education:
• Completion of an accredited school of nursing
Experience:
• Two years of supervisory or administrative experience in the nursing field
• Previous correctional/detention facility experience
• Three years of supervisory or administrative experience in the nursing field
Licenses/Certifications:
• Unrestricted current Registered Nurse license in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide quality and efficient patient care according to established standards including:
o Assure that effective quality nursing care is delivered which is outcome focused through utilization of the nursing process
o Assess patient needs, develop individual care plans, administer nursing care, and evaluate nursing care.
o Develop individualized plan of care in collaboration with medical staff and in collaboration with the facility - Triage and communicate with physician, PA/NP, or nursing supervisor any potentially relevant significant medical complaints or observations discovered during routine duties
- Management and control of Methadone as assigned
- Coordinate the activities of shift, provides timely and adequate supervision to medical staff and facility
- Responsible for adequately scheduling staff, ensuring efficiency in patient care and in department processes
