Job Description

Director of Nursing (DON) needed in Warsaw, NC with an expanding facility. Excellent opportunity for those seeking career growth!

Salary Range: $90K -$140K (Salary based on year of experience)

Relocation package available.

SUMMARY:

The Director of Nursing reports to and receives general direction from the Chief Administrative officer and is responsible for compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations that govern long-term care facilities, and established policies and procedures to enhance the quality of life of our residents by planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Department. The Director of Nursing provides leadership with regard to clinical practice, team development, quality assurance, and strategic input to assure each resident receives the necessary nursing, medical, and psychosocial services to attain and maintain the highest possible mental and physical functional status.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License for North Carolina (or compact).
  • Nursing home experience, high preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in a hospital, long-term care facility or other related health care facility, preferred.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal work hours including nights, holidays, and weekends as needed to meet facility and position demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, (include, but not limited to):

  • Supervision of Nursing Staff in fulfillment of department programs and activities within budget, with high quality and on schedule.
  • Oversee the nursing process by verifying appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the resident’s care. Actively participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, when necessary.

  • Oversee development and implementation of nursing care plans and assessments. Develop and implement care plans and assessments, when necessary.

  • Ensure nursing involvement in quality improvement initiatives and health/safety programs.

  • Perform direct patient care utilizing established procedures, policies and standards, when necessary.

  • Perform duties in a safe manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Timely and accurately record nursing notes in an informative and description manner.

  • Prepare an annual operating budget for approval by the Chief Administrative Officer and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the facility.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Works in office areas, as well as throughout the facility. Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Interacts with residents, family members, and staff under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors. Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions including but not limited to exposure to hepatitis B viruses.
