Job Description

MSI is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse in New York City.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current NYS licensed registered nurse with Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or at least three years of infection control or communicable disease experience.

Preferred qualifications:
CIC (all positions)
Experience with Statistical Analysis System (SAS) software (Communicable Disease Review positions)
Spanish-speaking (Communicable Disease Review positions)

Position Descriptions:

Communicable Disease Review

The incumbent will be responsible for conducting communicable disease surveillance and investigation in healthcare and community settings. This will include conducting outbreak investigations; providing guidance and technical assistance on appropriate outbreak management procedures to facilities and other public health partners; compiling/synthesizing outbreak data; developing recommendations and reports; and analyzing outbreak data to use in investigations and identifying clusters. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing guidelines, educational tools, evaluation tools, etc. under the direction of the NYSDOH and providing training and education using various modalities and in various professional settings. Occasional travel, including overnight travel, to locations not served by public transportation may be required.

Hospital-Acquired Infection Reporting

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating activities for the mandated Hospital-Acquired Infection Reporting Program. Duties will include monitoring and evaluating hospital reporting, assessing accuracy and identifying deficiencies, providing training to healthcare personnel on NHSN surveillance methods and providing feedback; assessing regional infection prevention programs, identifying best practice models, and working with local partners to integrate models in other health care facilities; establishing partnerships with local/regional APIC/hospital associations, providing technical consultation to regional staff on infection reporting, conducting joint investigations with New York State Department of Health staff, and providing technical consultation/assistance in health care facilities as needed. Occasional travel to healthcare facilities is required.
