Job Title: OB/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift
Location: Sitka, Alaska
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Facility: Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital (Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Varying Nights
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Start Date: ASAP
Licensure: Active Alaska RN License required at time of submission
About the Role:
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery RNs for a rapid-response contract opportunity in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This role serves a close-knit community and includes full-scope perinatal nursing care including antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide safe, evidence-based care for laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns

Monitor fetal heart rate, perform NSTs, and assist in deliveries including C-sections

Administer medications and perform nursing interventions per provider orders

Provide patient education, breastfeeding support, and discharge planning

Respond to emergencies and provide perioperative care for C-sections

Float as needed to Med-Surg and ED units
Minimum Requirements:

Active, unrestricted Alaska RN license
-
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (BLS required at submission; others by start)

Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience, including postpartum care

Must be flexible to float between departments

Must do both L&D and Postpartum care

Must live 50+ miles from facility (no locals)

Must be vaccinated for flu or willing to obtain before start
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in critical access or rural hospitals
-
Familiarity with Meditech EMR
-
Experience managing C-sections, high-risk maternal care, and newborn stabilization
Additional Information:

On-call participation required; callback paid at standard rate

Must be willing to float and cover holiday shifts
