Job Description
Title: Lacation Consultant
Location: Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30
Lactation Consultant
1 QUALIFICATIONS.
1.1 Shall have provided a minimum of three years lactation consultant services, with at least two years in the inpatient hospital setting.
1.2 Must have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
2 TYPE OF WORK. The duties include but are not limited to the following:
2.1 Performs comprehensive lactation assessment of the mother and her infant within the hospital setting in accordance with the policy and guidelines of postpartum and newborn nursery care required for Government beneficiaries.
2.2 Provides comprehensive care to the perinatal mother desiring to lactate.
2.3 Assesses mothers and newborns for normal/abnormal anatomy to determine ability to breastfeed.
2.4 Creates a milieu that promotes learning for staff and patients.
2.5 Conducts bedside lactation rounds daily.
2.6 Integrates cultural, psychosocial, nutritional, and pharmacological aspects of breastfeeding into lactation consultant practice.
2.7 Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding in the community, workplace, and within the health care professions.
2.8 Maintains comprehensive client records.
2.9 Consults with mothers having breastfeeding difficulties.
