Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week night shift contract assignment in Carbondale, IL.
The 4 Medical Unit is a 25-bed medical-surgical unit consisting of 11 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms. The unit cares for a diverse patient population, with a primary focus on stroke patients who do not require TPA. Additional patient populations include:
- Comfort care and hospice patients
- Post-operative patients (amputations, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes)
- Patients receiving heparin drips
- Wound care patients
- Altered mental status patients
- CIWA patients
- AKI and dialysis patients
- COPD exacerbation patients
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
- Days: 5:1
- Nights: 5-6:1
- Nurses may occasionally have one total-care patient.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN License
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- BLS/CPR Certification
- ACLS Certification
- NIHSS Certification (Required)
- Ability to work three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- State license must be active at the time of submission
