NURSE EDUCATOR – PART TIME

NEW YORK CITY, NY

$40.00/HOUR (21 HOUR WORK WEEK)

Located in New York City, this opportunity is for a leading nonprofit organization for public and professional skin cancer prevention, early detection and treatment education. They are passionate in educating the public so that there is a reduction and prevention of the incidence and mortality of the world’s most common cancer. Through the knowledge of the risks of skin cancer, the public can be educated on steps to be taken to avoid the skin cancer and how to identify early stages which have a high percentage of being cured. As the RN EDUCATOR (Part Time) you will have the following responsibilities:

• Perform outreach to identified individuals and begin dialogue on patient needs by understanding patient concerns and exploring barriers to a successful outcome. Patient concerns may include issues with finances, insurance, medication and emotional support.
• Guide patients and their families through the skin cancer care continuum to identify educational opportunities and additional resources to promote health and wellness.
• Establish a database of available skin cancer patient resources by leveraging relationships and alliances with other skin cancer providers and nonprofit services.
• Consistently raise awareness of educational opportunities, resources, support programs and services.
• Prepare monthly funding reports by tracking and collecting critical data to meet funding requirements.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records to document recommendations for services.
• Implement a follow-up plan for each patient outreach to ensure that services have met their needs.
• Collect patient and caregiver stories, with documented approval, of their skin cancer journey that may be useful in educating others via the website, blog or other Marketing Communications materials.

The RN EDUCATOR must meet the following criteria:

• Licensed Registered Nurse with BSN degree required.

• Minimum of five years of nursing experience that includes direct patient care
• Ability to provide high quality, accurate and confidential customer service.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Versatility and ability to work independently.
• Experience and knowledge of Skin Cancer is a plus
• Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
