Job Description

Job Title: RN Primary Care – Outpatient Clinic
Specialty/Department: Nursing – Med-Surg Adult / Primary Care / Ambulatory
Location: Wrangell, AK 99929
Job Type: Permanent Full Time
Shift: Days, Full time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Holiday coverage not required.
Duration: Permanent placement
Experience Requirements: Less than 1 year experience required. 1 year of acute care experience preferred. Must be able to multi-task and work independently in fast-paced environment. Team-player with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
License/Certification Requirements:

  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Must have applied for Alaska RN license before start date if not current AK. Agency staff must have active Alaska license.
  • Basic Life Support BLS certification – American Heart Association required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years
  • High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year
    Start Date Statement: Start date is typically within approximately 2 weeks after offer acceptance and completion of onboarding/credentialing requirements.
    Job Summary: This position functions within the Outpatient Department to assist patients and medical staff in the ambulatory care setting and is responsible for the overall operation of the Clinic. Provides clinical services, works with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure quality of care, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with standards. Provides leadership and direction to clinic staff ensuring efficient operation of front desk and patient care.

  • Maintains medication inventory and supplies not on Warehouse PAR system
  • Ensures quality control checks for Point of Care tests
  • Oversees opening and closing of provider clinics
  • Clearly documents all care and services; completes nurse duties professionally and timely
  • Assists providers and staff, anticipates needs for efficient patient care
  • Maintains skill sets, annual competencies, certifications; completes mandatory training
  • Adheres to infection control policy and procedures
  • Maintains clean/safe work environment, reports defective equipment and safety hazards
  • Physical demands: talk/hear regularly; stand, walk, sit, use hands frequently; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl occasionally; lift/move up to 50 lbs
  • Knowledge of nursing process, customer service, safety and infection control principles required
  • Skills in assessments, specimen collection, computers, medical equipment, oral/written communication
