Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Neuro ICU position. The RN will coordinate and deliver clinical care, collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and ensure high-quality patient and family outcomes. Responsibilities include care planning, patient and family education, utilization management, and discharge planning.
Unit Overview
This specialized Neuroscience ICU provides advanced care for patients with neurological illnesses and injuries. Common patient populations include:
- Post-operative neurosurgical and neurointerventional patients
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Spinal cord injury
- Ischemic stroke
- Intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage
- Central nervous system tumors
- Status epilepticus
- Neuromuscular disorders such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome and Myasthenia Gravis
- Critical care overflow patients from medical, surgical, and cardiac ICUs

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Develop and implement individualized care plans

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, and patient care activities
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull according to clinical demands
- Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital setting
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases
- High-stress critical care environment
- May care for confused, disoriented, or combative patients
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
- BSN preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience, preferably within the last 3 years
- Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS/BCLS
Additional Information
- State license required upon acceptance
- No holiday coverage required
- Minimum experience: 1 year ICU experience
- Bilingual candidates are welcome but not required
