Job Description
The Nurse Manager provides oversight of ASC clinical departments (Operating Room, Pre/Post Op, Sterilization) through strategic planning, as well as day-to-day operations. This role is critical in ensuring Center’s Morals and Standards are implemented in the office and followed through by all employees
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
- Directs and supervises employees engaged in the ASC operations.
- Hires, trains, and evaluates employees in consultation with Human Resources, supervisor and the doctor.
- Manages employee performance to ensure that employees’ skills meet and/or exceed the expectations of the position they hold.
- Assure staff is appropriately oriented and trained, including BCLS, PALS, ACLS, infection control, HIPAA and Corporate Compliance.
- Responsible for ensuring that the sites have adequate coverage/staffing with consideration to facility budget, patient flow, and physician expectations.
- Builds relationships of trust between the doctor(s), staff and the company and advocates for the needs of the doctor(s), staff and the company.
- Identifies and develops process improvement plans.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings.
- Projects to employees and maintains a positive & solution driven demeaner towards the systems, processes and changes in healthcare delivery.
ASC Operations
- Assures patient safety, comfort and quality in conjunction with Practice Administrator, Medical Director and the Board.
- Coordinates quarterly governing board meeting and follow through on board’s initiatives.
- Develops the clinical budget, policies, reports (block utilization, turn-over times, OR efficiencies for physicians and staff), variances, cost-per-case analysis, equipment pricing, vendor supply negotiations with the Management Team.
- Provides required educational programs for maintenance of strong clinical skills.
- Maintains case logs, pathology logs, QI/PI logs, variance reports and incident reports
- Maintains ASC’s policies and procedures for continued compliance with CMS certification, JCAHO accreditation, AAAAHC, CLIA and state licensure. Coordinates with ASC consultants regarding updates to policies and procedure changes.
- Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Improvement Committee and Medical Executive Committee, working closely with the Medical Director and Practice Administrator.
- Measures patient satisfaction, identifies trends, and opportunities for improvements.
- Manages maintenance and repair of all OR equipment, med-gas, sterilizer and generator.
- Ensures compliance with applicable government laws, rules, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Required
- Masters of Science in Nursing Preferred
- Active Georgia State Nursing License
- Membership (or at least familiarity) with AORN and APIC & CDC Standards
