Job Description

Location: Melrose Park, IL
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts with rotating weekends.
Clinic Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 7 AM to 7 PM
  • Saturday: 8 AM to 3 PM
  • Sunday: 8 AM to 12 Noon

Summary:
Responsible for donor suitability assessment for automated pheresis procedures, immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations), and emergency medical care for donors and staff.

Job Description:

  • Conduct confidential donor interviews to assess suitability for plasma donation.
  • Provide medical responses to staff inquiries under guidance of Medical Director.
  • Perform medical history reviews and health assessments.
  • Notify and counsel donors on test results; refer for follow-up as needed.
  • Explain and obtain informed consent from donors.
  • Handle medical emergencies, escalate as required.
  • Assess and maintain donor suitability based on test results.
  • Manage immunization programs; ensure compliance and record-keeping.
  • Maintain clean, efficient work environment; adhere to safety protocols.
  • Conduct audits of procedures and documentation as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.

Education:

  • Graduation from paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical, or naturopathic program.
  • Foreign medical graduates must be licensed or certified as EMT.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year in healthcare; plasma or blood collection preferred.
  • Physical assessment skills; ability to educate donors and staff.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to make decisions impacting immediate work.
  • Understand and apply oral/written instructions.
  • See, speak with customers, and observe equipment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling; manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Fast-paced, interruptive environment; exposure to chemicals and pathogens.
  • Wear PPE as required; overtime may be necessary.
