Registered Nurse, Pain Management
Navy Comprehensive Pain Management Program (NCPMP)
Naval Hospital Bremerton, WA

Position Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Degree/Education: Possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, a Graduate Diploma in Nursing, or an Associate Degree in Nursing, from an accredited agency such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), formerly known as the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certification/Licensure: Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Possess either:
  • Possess and maintain a current Pain Management Nursing board certification accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) OR Possess a minimum of three years of clinical work experience as a full-time RN within the preceding five years including at least one year of pain management nursing experience working in a setting with chronic pain patients.
Specific Duties:
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary team with other health care providers providing consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
  • Participate in an on-site designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) telementoring training program.
  • Participate in tele-mentoring, tele-medicine, and tele-consults.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform physical exam an health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines NES in support of Defense Health Agency (DHA) in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
