Job Description

We’re seeking a skilled Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our perioperative care team in Greenwich, Connecticut. This is a full-time position (three 13-hour shifts per week) with shifts rotating between 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. The role includes rotating between the Pre-Op area and the Ambulatory Setting, with a restricted on-call requirement including occasional weekends (must be able to report within 30 minutes).

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-anesthesia care for patients and their families, collaborating with the entire healthcare team.

  • Verify patient identification, required documentation, consents, lab tests, and equipment prior to procedures.

  • Deliver patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely, adhering to patient safety standards.

  • Maintain airway and manage respiratory and monitoring equipment, IV lines, drains, and catheters.

  • Apply aseptic practices to minimize infection risk.

  • Use clinical judgment to respond effectively to emergency situations.

  • Document all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately.

  • Assist in onboarding and precepting new staff or students.

  • Cross-train and rotate within perioperative services as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current Connecticut RN license (BSN preferred)

  • BLS and ACLS certification required (PALS within 1 year of hire)

  • Perianesthesia certification preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting (ICU experience preferred)

  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Ability to meet on-call requirement and report within 30 minutes
