We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our medical practice part time in Glen Burnie, MD. We are looking for a result-oriented Procedure Nurse to assist our medical team with pre and post procedure care, as well as assisting during pain management procedures 2 days per week. Our ideal candidate is a team player, effective communicator, who is forward thinking with a focus on service orientation.

The Pain Procedure Nurse who, under direct supervision of the Pain Medical Director, is responsible for the safety of the patients while in the procedural suite and assists with supervision of nonprofessional personnel in the unit. The Pain Procedure Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of individualized nursing care to patients in the pre and post procedural period as well as during the procedure. By incorporating current clinical knowledge with established nursing practices, performs nursing interventions utilizing the nursing process. By assessment of the individual patient and the procedure, he/she anticipates the needs of the patient and provide for those needs while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

Job Duties:

  • Collects, interprets, records, and communicates pertinent data relevant to the patient’s pre-procedural, postprocedural, and procedural care
  • Assist provider as needed: primarily with C-arm positioning, positioning and preparing patients on procedure table as well as IV placement
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and/or administer pain & anxiolytic medications as ordered
  • Administering and monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation during procedures
  • Monitoring patients in recovery following procedures with moderate sedation
  • Phone triage: including pre and post procedure questions, medication refills, preauthorization requests, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the safety and administration of quality care to each patient to meet their physical, psychological, and psychosocial needs
  • Continuously evaluates the patient’s response to nursing interventions and modifies the plan of care to achieve desired outcomes
  • Responsible for patient care in assigned peri-procedural area
  • Provides for continuity of individual patient care through peri-procedural assessment of the nursing needs for all assigned patients. Receives and provides reports to and about patients as necessary to ensure quality care
  • Demonstrates flexibility, efficiency, and speed in the performance of all duties according to the unit/department
  • Assumes responsibility for the knowledge and operation of all technical and mechanical equipment, including a thorough knowledge of components, accessories, safety features, and cleaning techniques
  • Completely and accurately records and documents all peri-procedural nursing records to include but not limit to consents, supply usage, case history, and pre-procedural and procedure performed
  • Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of supplies, equipment, and services within the goals of the center
  • Assists in general environment duties in assigned area
  • Serves as public relations liaison for the center with patients, physicians, customers, and business representatives in the clinical areas
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing in marketing efforts to promote the center
  • Participates in appropriate meetings and committees
  • Participates in and supports research and improvements studies that can make meaningful contributions to the quality and economy of nursing services

Requirements:

  • MD State licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS required
  • Knowledge and experience in procedural patient care, with knowledge in fluoroscopy suite procedures and C-arm utilization
  • Familiar with the basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the Maryland Nurse Practice Act

  • CNOR desirable
  • AORN Membership desirable
  • Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas: Aseptic technique, physical assessment of body systems, pharmacology related to anesthetic agents, antibiotics and other medications, and their effects on the peri-procedural patients, knowledge of patient rights, ability to assess patient's physical, educational, emotional, spiritual, and age appropriate needs, Computer skills, previous procedural nursing experience with knowledge of fluoroscopy suite procedures and C-arm utilization, demonstrate and abide by radiation safety regulations

Schedule:

  • Part time 2 days per week

Compensation:

  • $40/hr
