OR CHARGE NURSE -$120K-$150K

operates Monday - Friday and occasionally one Saturday per month. The surgery center is a multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center including ENT, Podiatry, Orthopedics, General, Plastics, Pain Management, and other surgical specialties.

Job Title: OR Charge RN- will focus on leadership of Surgical Services

Department: Operating Room (Surgical Services)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, day shift, occasionally one Saturday per month, no major holidays.

Sign-on Bonus: $3,500.00 (paid in two installments after hire)

Requirements
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with BSN
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of OR Charge RN experience required
  • 2+ years of OR RN experience required
  • Ortho experience is strongly preferred
Licensure - Current NYS RN license

Job Summary: The role of the OR Charge RN in an operating room provides leadership, guidance, supervision, and support to the Surgical Services team; as well as direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles as needed. In addition to general nursing care, the responsibilities of OR Charge RN include (but are not limited to):

Job Responsibilities:
  • Displays commitment to the mission of the Surgery Center and its values
  • Accomplish nurse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, educating, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members, communicating job expectations and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Fosters an environment that promotes a spirit of inquiry and continuous quality improvement. Assists in the design and implementation of programs with evaluating the efficacy of treatment.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Promote, monitor, and implement the concepts of quality management and evidence-based practice. Monitor service areas, recommend approaches for improvement activities, design new processes, collect and measure data, review, and report performance over time, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation and continuously reassess.
  • Provide programmatic leadership of the clinical component of assigned areas to ensure quality patient care outcomes.
  • Develop and implement goals, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures, and practices of clinical care in alignment with strategic plan.
  • Manage staffing and scheduling processing including the distribution of present and future FTE's.
  • Assist in preparation, coordination, and evaluation of annual fiscal operation and capital equipment budgets for assigned areas.
  • Monitor and respond to situations that affect daily operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental retention strategies, recruitment, selection, and discipline of department personnel. Participate in the development, coaching, motivation, and evaluation of department personnel.
  • Facilitate employee understanding of job requirements. Assure availability of appropriate education to develop and maintain staff competence.
  • Role models the philosophy of person-centered care. Establish a compassionate environment. Daily patient/family rounding. Handle patient complaints/other issues as they arise.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff.
  • Flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform all responsibilities of RN role as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to stay calm, function with purpose and react appropriately in all situations
  • Demonstrates effective delegation skills.
  • Completes all mandatory educational requirements and seeks out learning experiences.
  • Demonstrates adherence to infection control policies and correct hand washing/scrubbing technique.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and accepts change as needed.
Physical Requirements - Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring patients may involve lifting up to 50 or more pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
