Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must possess knowledge and understanding of substance abuse and mental illness, enabling them to deliver treatment according to professional standards. This role necessitates physical capability for emergency procedures such as CPR and assisting with routine patient care. Additionally, the LPN will conduct medical assessments and intake screenings. Essential Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: Conduct pre-admission screenings, both over the phone and in-person, for patients seeking admission. Administer medication as per physician orders. Monitor patients undergoing drug and alcohol withdrawal to prevent medical complications. Perform physical assessments on patients admitted to our facilities in accordance with established standards. Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient charts, including nurse's notes, medication records, and assessments. Evaluate and promptly report identified medical issues to the Medical Director or on-call physician. Adhere to infection control protocols and proper sharps disposal procedures. Stay informed and compliant with all relevant procedures. Ensure the nurse's station maintains cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards. Participate in case reviews and training sessions. Uphold the Professional Staff Code of Ethics. Conduct patient education sessions on addiction, health maintenance, and recovery-related topics. Fulfill any other assigned duties. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Minimum Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Required: Education: Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience. Skills: Ability to execute physician's standing orders. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Current licensure as a practical nurse in Massachusetts. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within three months of hire
