Job Description
Job Summary: Position reports to clinical nurse manager with input from assigned physician, nurse practitioner, or other health care providers. Develops appropriate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues as a team member providing the highest quality patient care and contributes toward the attainment of important goals for the patient and the practice.
Essential functions:
- Recognizes that the patient is always first
- Assesses basic health status, records, and related health data.
- Performs and documents assigned procedures, including but not limited to: vital signs, throat cultures, injections, dressing changes, urine dipstick, vision/hearing screenings
- Participates in nursing care, health maintenance, patient instruction, collaborative planning within scope of practice and consistent with education/training
- Prepares patients for exams and treatments, assisting provider in medical procedures and treatments
- Sets up and restocks exam rooms. Maintains order and cleanliness of rooms and common lab areas and restrooms
- Communicates supply needs to front desk supervisor
- Maintains equipment in proper working order, including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments
- Maintains competencies in conducting in house labs, quality control, vaccine management and administration
- Maintains a safe hazard-free environment that is comfortable for patients, visitors, and staff
- Monitors waiting room for cleanliness and patient needs
- Fiscally responsible in the use of supplies
- Incorporates flow into daily work and participates in planned change
- Participates in staff meetings
- Maintains annual educational requirements
Required qualifications
- Current Massachusetts LPN license
- Current CPR certification
- One year of experience in a practice setting is preferred
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Experience with computers, web based programs, EMR
- Comply with all PPA policies and procedures
Physical demands
- Requires prolonged standing and walking
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate information, reports, and forms
- Requires exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids
Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
