Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Dothan, Alabama

About the Opportunity

A well-established, regional health system in Dothan, Alabama is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Critical Care/ICU team. This organization serves as the primary tertiary referral center for Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle, providing advanced medical care across a wide range of specialties. With a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and patient-centered care, you'll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary critical care team in a collaborative hospital environment.

ICU/Critical Care experience is REQUIRED for consideration.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NP or PA who enjoys managing medically complex patients and wants to practice at the top of their license while caring for critically ill adults in a high-acuity inpatient setting.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position
  • ICU/Critical Care experience is required
  • Manage adult critically ill and medically complex hospitalized patients
  • Co-manage patients alongside intensivists and the multidisciplinary critical care team
  • Participate in patient care from admission through discharge
  • Utilize evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic testing, and monitor patient progress
  • Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
  • Practice in a collaborative, supportive environment focused on clinical excellence and patient safety
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and continuing education

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program with board certification
    OR
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with NCCPA certification
  • Active Alabama NP or PA license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA (or ability to obtain)
  • Previous ICU/Critical Care experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is highly individualized and based on several factors, including prior RN experience (for NPs), years of clinical experience, certifications, and overall background. Specific compensation details are discussed after the initial interview and CV review.
