Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Wenatchee, Washington

About the Position

A large, physician-led, integrated healthcare system in north-central Washington is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its growing Neurosurgery & Spine team. This is an outstanding opportunity to practice alongside an experienced group of neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine specialists in a collaborative, high-volume regional medical center.

Please Note: New graduates will not be considered. Prior APP experience is required, with surgical or neurosurgery experience strongly preferred.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time position
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week (days/evenings)
  • Mix of inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and hospital-based care
  • First assist in the operating room with a broad range of neurosurgical and spine procedures
  • Work alongside multiple neurosurgeons with cross-training across the department
  • State-of-the-art surgical facilities and advanced technology

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for new neurosurgical patients
  • Evaluate post-operative patients and provide ongoing follow-up care
  • Develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans in collaboration with neurosurgeons
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing
  • Assist in the operating room with cranial and spine procedures, including craniotomies, spinal instrumentation, intrathecal baclofen pump placement, microscopic procedures, and other complex surgeries
  • Perform wound closure (deep and superficial)
  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds, including ICU patients
  • Evaluate emergency department and inpatient consults
  • Assist with discharge planning and discharge summaries
  • Manage ventricular/ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and VP shunt evaluations/reprogramming
  • Prescribe medications and perform procedures within scope of practice
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation
  • Participate in department call rotation
  • Maintain current BLS certification

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: Approximately $142,000 – $171,000, based on experience.
