Job Description

Experience Wound Care Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of wound-related patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all inpatients. The RN Wound Care Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical practice including fiscal, material and human resource management. You will participate in the development of policies and procedures for the department. The Supervisor is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and ensures individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to the Hospital. Our patient population is adult 18-65 and geriatrics 65 and older.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for the coordinating of all clinical functions for the wound care department. Works with the wound care physicians to provide a comprehensive treatment program for patients, addresses patient issues, and works through all patient/employee-related matters for inpatient wound care program.
  2. Develops comprehensive wound management plan and assists in wound care when indicated.
  3. Educates nursing personnel on wound care techniques and skills.
  4. Develops appropriate protocols and objectives for programs exhibiting knowledge of the programs by communicating needed information and/or referring requests for information to appropriate sources.
  5. Provides leadership in the development of performance standards for employees. Evaluates and counsels employees on their performance. Plans and develops educational in-services for the department.
  6. Performs all tasks associated with the hospital’s quality reporting requirements, to include gathering and tracking relevant quality data and outcomes, inputting data into appropriate systems, filling reports with various agencies, and following up to ensure all quality-related reports are filed correctly and in a timely fashion.
  7. The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served, and other special needs of patients or customers served by the department.
  8. Adheres to our policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.
  9. Regular attendance and timeliness is required.

Supervision: Supervises the functions and employees of inpatient Wound Care Services.


Experience: Two to five years experience working in wound care. Previous supervisory experience preferred.


Education: An Associate’s degree in an approved Registered Nurse program and meaningful and appropriate experience. BSN preferred.


Licensure/Certification: WOCN or WCC or WOCNCB preferred. Must maintain current licensure and ACLS/BLS certifications while employed with the Hospitals.
